Volleyball team Trefl is one of the Tricity sports icons. During their matches, the “Gdańsk Lions” deliver outstanding performances to thousands of spectators and year 2015 was a great example of that - the team won Polish Vice-Championship, Polish Cup and Super Cup, and advanced to the top 12 of the volleyball Champions League.
However, the past weeks brought bad news. The club’s long-term title sponsor – LOTOS SA Group – decided not to extend the partnership with Trefl Gdańsk. Even though the atmosphere within the squad is amazing, the pre-season has been successful and the fans can’t wait to see their team play, we aren’t sure we will be able to compete this season at all. The club’s at risk. More importantly, we haven’t got much time left to find a new sponsor before the start of the season.
Thankfully, we've got you - the best volleyball fans in the world. We haven't got any doubts that together with you, we can make it! Let's show the world what a brilliant community we are. It's hard to imagine Polish volleyball without the Lions from Gdańsk, so let's tank up!
Together with you we want to raise 150,000 PLN – an amount which will enable to balance the budget in the first phase of the season. We are doing all we can to find alternative sources of financial support and save the volleyball team from Gdańsk. However, without you we won't make it. You can be our fuel in those hard times, the way you always are in ERGO ARENA! Let's tank up and fuel Andrea Anastasi’s team!
The project will last until October 4th - that's when our first league match of the season, against ONICO Warsaw, is scheduled for.
Everyone who participates in the project will be able to pick his favorite reward from the ones prepared by Trefl Gdańsk. Let’s fill up the team’s tank and let it fuel the players from Gdańsk!
Some rewards require answers to additional questions, like for instance size. The answers to these questions can be provided in your profile after you pay. You can access your profile after you log in by clicking in the upper right corner of the website.

2 278 rewards bought, 1 450 fans from 23 countries and 181 cities, 771 tickets for local orphanages and school and 280 392 PLN raised - these are the statistics of Trefl's project "Lions, let's tank up!" that began mid-September. Thanks to the fans from Danzig their team is competing in PlusLiga this season.
The project “Lions, let’s tank up!” began on September 16th and finished after Trefl’s first match of the season. Within less than 3 weeks the fans from Danzig raised 280 000 PLN – the 3rd best achievement in the history of Fans4Club.com. Thanks to the commitment of Trefl’s supporters, the club could compete in the league this season despite losing the main sponsor. Moreover, the Danzig team will fight for trophies with an unchanged squad, i.e. Mateusz Mika, Artur Szalpuk, Piotr Nowakowski and TJ Sanders.
1 450 fans joined the project and nearly 1 200 bought the rewards in the opening days of the campaign which helped the club achieve the first goal (150 000 PLN) within a big over a week. Fans from 23 countries participated in the project, some of them from Japan, USA and Thailand. In Poland supporters from Danzig were the most numerous, while fans from the capital followed closely. Moreover, 56% of the people who joined the campaign were women. In total, the supporters bought 2 278 rewards and match tickets for local orphanages and schools were bought most frequently, followed by coffee mugs.
“In the name of myself, the whole team, the club and the volleyball community, I’d like to thank dearly all of the people who joined the project “Lions, let’s tank up!” Captain Mateusz Mika said an important thing to the fans after yesterday’s match: “It’s thanks to you that we play in PlusLiga this season.” I am also immensely grateful to all the partners and companies who decided to support our club recently, especially Cekol which our players now wear on their match shirts. I can also say that within the next couple of days we will sign a new sponsorship agreement. I am sure that the spirit of the project will remain for a long time and it will have a long-lasting positive influence on our club,” said Dariusz Gadomski, Trefl’s chairman.
The project “Lions, let’s tank up!” wasn’t only about buying rewards, but also about small gestures of support, selfless help and incredible commitment. “We would like to thank all the fans and the community, each and every one of you, not only for letting the team compete in the league this season but also for showing how golden the volleyball community is. Apart from the financial support, some people donated rewards, while big majority decided to buy a ticket for the orphanages or the local schools. There is also miss Iwona who bought a dinner with coach Anastasi and gave the invitation to his wife so that she could spend some valuable time with her husband,” explained Malgorzata Ciszewska, chairman of Game Time which is responsible for the club’s marketing, communication and business partnerships. “The rewards weren’t only donated by volleyball, football and business communities, but also by anonymous people who decided to contribute to the project by giving something very valuable. During the hectic weeks there were also those who willingly decided to help out during, e.g. matchday organization. The help came from all sides, in all forms, and we are immensely grateful for it,” added Ciszewska. “For all the positive energy and for all the gestures of solidarity we would like to thank you - the fans – because thanks to you we are even surer that Trefl is more than just a sports club - it’s a place that unites people and leaves a long-lasting, positive imprint on the lives of many.”

It happened! The whole volleyball community proved their character and 6 days after we launched the project “Lions, let’s tank up!”, the club has already raised 150 000 PLN! What does that mean? Thanks to you - the best fans in the world - our club will for sure compete in PlusLiga next season! However, we aren’t going to slow down. Let’s keep on tanking because our aim is to play in the league with the same great squad we now have!
The project “Lions, let’s tank up!” kicked off at 10 am on Saturday and within a dozen or so hours the campaign had already collected the highest amount of money in the history of Fans4Club.com. The volleyball fans beat Wisla Cracow’s supporters who had gathered 44 110 PLN on the first day of #12HERO. In the project “Lion, let’s tank up!”, the fans collected 50K by midnight! Even after that, the supporters from Danzig didn’t slow down and within a week after the project’s been launched, the goal was achieved! However, it doesn’t end here. Let’s keep on tanking up!
With a new name and a new club crest, a lot of things are going to change, starting on the match kits, through club merchandise, ending on ERGO ARENA’s interiors. Nonetheless, there is one thing we don’t want to change – the squad. Our next goal is to collect 400 000 PLN which will help us fill in the financial void that LOTOS Group S.A. left behind. The money will help us compete in PlusLiga under the name of Trefl Gdańsk. “The goal is challenging, but we’ve already been informed by one of our sponsors that they are eager to join the project and contribute significantly. Moreover, when looking at the commitment and passion of all the fans, we believe that the rewards will be selling as quickly as they have been so far,” explained Dariusz Gadomski, Trefl’s chairman.
We would also like to use this opportunity to thank you for all the solidarity you have shown in the past days. Over 1100 fans have already joined the project “Lions, let’s tank up!” and every day new supporters contribute to the project. The campaign has attracted volleyball lovers from 18 different countries, including Japan, Montenegro and Egypt. In addition, a number of other sport representatives supported us too, among them numerous volleyball teams, Lechia Gdańsk, as well as Karol Kłos.
Every day we add new, unique rewards to the project. The most interesting ones include the players, training staff and the club’s employees. Among the wide variety of rewards you will find an opportunity to celebrate a win with the club speaker, a personal training session with the fitness coach, player escort, PlayStation match against Mateusz Mika, or a day spent with the press officer. Of course, there are also numerous gadgets and memorabilia awaiting, e.g. silver medal, club backpack, hoodies, t-shirts, and many, many more. It turns out that you decide to purchase tickets for the local orphanages the most often and that shows how golden the volleyball community is. You not only help Trefl Gdansk, but also make children from the orphanages smile and that is what we would like to thank you for, too.
The project "Lions, let’s tank up!” will last until October 4th, i.e. the day when we will face ONICO Warsaw in the first league match of the season. The next couple of weeks will be intense for us. We need to begin the season with the same energy we always did, but with a new name. Be our fuel in this tough period the way you always are during the matches in ERGO ARENA!
